Elizabeth Sullivan, LP-LCAT (she/her)
Psychotherapist, Art Therapist
I find it the greatest compliment when someone shares their authentic self with me, especially in times of transition and personal struggle. It is most important that I provide a safe space to allow for the creation of a successful therapeutic relationship giving freedom to one’s healing process.
It has been through my unique blend of experiences and education that I’ve truly grown my passion for this work. My reflective and grounded presence allows me to create a warm and trusting environment to nurture growth. With a gentle strength I am able to engage others by utilizing myself and my capacity to hold the weight of emotion and appropriately provide empathy and a fuller understanding to better serve those in need of support.
I consider the mind, body and spirit as a whole when working with someone and helping them to reach their personal therapy goals. I am passionate about helping others gain self understanding and confidence, new skills and experiences through the integration of traditional talk therapy and the creative and exploratory process of art therapy.
I hold a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute and an undergraduate degree in Visual Arts and Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey. I have worked with both children and adults providing individual, marriage and family support. I’ve also navigated the beauty and challenges of end of life care. Some areas of specialty include chronic illness, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma and self esteem. My psychotherapy approach is grounded in principles of mindfulness and I draw upon humanistic, person-centered and existential frameworks in art therapy.
I believe it’s normal to seek support at various times in our lives as a means of personal wellness. I invite you to email or call when you feel ready. I am offering sessions entirely virtually and look forward to meeting you.
